Personal Power – it’s Yours to Use

created by C. Wilson

Some may have been made aware of staying and standing in your power.  There are a variety of research and studies about Personal Power.  Some may understand what being in your personal power represents and others may not be aware of its meaning.

  • Some studies suggest that harnessing our Personal power has a direct relationship with whether we realistically work toward and achieve our intended goals
  • When making the best use of our personal power we are living intentionally with a sense of purpose.
  • When we are working from our personal power we are as optimistic as necessary regarding achieving and striving toward our goals.

Understanding what is involved in discovering and upholding our personal power may be so much easier to read and talk about than it is to actually harness and implement on a consistent basis.

  • Personal power includes an ability to take focused and decisive action toward a specific goal and follow through with actions and behaviors that helps to accomplish that goal.
  • Exercising your personal power can assist in building and sustaining confidence to be yourself.  Many when using their personal power do not hesitate when expressing their feelings in personal and social situations.
  • Constructively working within our personal power helps to build self-reliance and inner strength that can lead to abilities to get us through challenging and tough times.
  • We can mentally work through what we may feel is emotionally holding us back from arriving at and experiencing our goals

In working environments interacting with so many different personalities upholding our beliefs can be similar to walking a fine line between self-assurance and cooperation.

  • Applying your own power can be emotionally or psychologically important within personal and social environments.
  • As we work toward our goal or goals implementing our personal power can include discovering abilities and exercising some courage to acknowledge and handle problems as they occur.
  • We can work on being mentally or inwardly aware of what appears to be making us feel we are not empowered over our personal or social situations.  We can begin to consciously work from a sense of power over our thoughts and follow through with our behaviors and actions.

True personal power is a source of emotional, mental and inner strength that can assist in working through challenges to reach intentioned goals.  It is also about harnessing and expressing our personal power while not allowing unproductive thoughts and actions to block us from reaching goals.
